Road Ahead from Gaute Godager
June 3rd, 2008 |
Gaute Godager, the Game Director for Age of Conan, has published information about the plans forward for AoC. Many interesting things you can read about on the AoC site, or review below. Please remember the comments below is a mix of our thoughts and quotes from Godager.
Filling “thin areas” with content
They realize some areas and level-gaps is lacking of content, especially late thirties and late fifties. The level 30-dungeons will get an overhaul, Black Castle, Pyramid of the Ancients and Treasury of the Ancients. Many quests will be longer and give more XP, together with Eiglophian Mountains and other areas with few quests will get a boost. We really like this, as we have seen the need to grind some areas because of lack of quests. Forcing players to grind XP is not a good sign, so I like that they are working on fixing this.
Better PvP system
They are satisfied with the open PvP of Age of Conan, but want to tweak and fix it a bit to give it more substance and meaning. More details will be released next week, but we know they talk about PvP items, crowd control, PvP leveling and changing the information you get when hovering over a player.
We are very hopeful that this will work out great, and hope especially the last thing will improve. Often it’s hard to figure out even what class another player has.
New Region
Another region is planned for the late fifties, with lots of quests and new monster. Who don’t want more content. We are happy that Funcom decides to push out content that didn’t make it to the release instead of waiting for an expansion pack!
Fix bugs and better customer support
Well, they are showed that fixing bugs is important, and they will continue doing that until both we and them is satisfied. Also, more customer support is needed, we agree. Both support from GMs in game and via e-mail and forums is slow these days.
